Malaysia’s Demand for Qurban Livestock
Here’s the truth: Malaysia’s local farms just can’t keep up with the demand during Qurban season.
👉 About 70% of goats and 50–60% of cattle we see for Qurban are actually imported, mainly from Thailand. That’s right — a lot of the cows and goats travel all the way from across the border to be part of our celebrations.

How Do They Get Here?
It’s not just a simple matter of loading the animals onto trucks and crossing the border. 🚚🛂
There’s a whole system in place to make sure the livestock is healthy, safe, and ready for Qurban:
1. ✅ Approved Farms
Animals must come from farms in Thailand that meet strict health standards.
2. 🏡 Quarantine in Thailand
Before even leaving Thailand, the livestock is kept in quarantine at facilities recognized by Malaysia’s Department of Veterinary Services (DVS).
3. 🇲🇾 Entry Into Malaysia
The animals enter Malaysia through official entry points like Rantau Panjang, Bukit Kayu Hitam, and Padang Besar.
4. 📝 Import Permits
Importers must apply for permits through the ePermit system before bringing the animals in.
5. 🔍 Health Certification
Once in Malaysia, the livestock is inspected and certified fit for slaughter by DVS and MAQIS (Malaysia’s quarantine and inspection services).
