The Department of Quarantine and Inspection Services Malaysia (MAQIS) was established under the Ministry of Agriculture and Agro-based Industry as a Department to provide integrated services related to quarantine, inspection and enforcement at the entrance, quarantine station and quarantine premises and certification for the import and export of plants, animals, carcasses, fish, agricultural products, soil and microorganisms and includes inspection and enforcement related to food and for matters of that.

Like Mala, I’d like to learn how to apply permit from MAQIS to bring in pet food for animal shelters. It’s not for commercial but they are donated kibbles and can food (dogs and cats) for shelters. Would love to hear back from you. Thank you.

My friend is planning to export 30 Mangosteen plants in small plastic pots in January. He will buy these plants in KL and take them home back to Japan. How and where can he get inspection or go through the quarantine procedures. We are thinking of finishing the process two days before the departure. Is it possible?
