Certification Scheme
Malaysian Halal Certification (Domestic) is open to applications for the following schemes:
- Food and beverage products
- Cosmetic products
- Pharmaceutical products
- Food premises
- Consumer products
- Logistics services
- Slaughterhouse
- Contract manufacturing/OEM
- Medical device product
Requirements and Application Criteria
Each application must meet the following conditions and criteria:
- Possess a valid Business Registration Certificate from the Malaysian Companies Commission or Cooperative Registration Certificate under the Malaysian Cooperative Commission or Establishment Document under the Act of Parliament or the respective Ministry and other Government agencies (whichever is relevant);
- Having a license or approval from PBT or a confirmation letter or letter of support that is still valid from any Government agency;
- Have a valid Food Premises Registration Certificate from BKKM (if relevant);
- Have a valid Veterinary Certification Scheme or certificate or letter of support from JPV (if relevant);
- Have a valid Manufacturer's License from NPRA (if relevant);
- Have a valid Establishment License from MDA (if relevant);
- Fully operational for at least three (3) months before making an SPHM application for a new application;
- Operate fully for at least one (1) month at the new premises for companies that move;
- Producing and/or handling only halal products including trading products and complying with the halal standards set;
- Apply for SPHM on all types of products or menus that are still produced on the premises concerned;
- Submit a recognized and valid halal certificate for product repackaging applications; or submit supporting documents that clearly state the source of the material (for natural materials only); and
- The name of the company, product, menu, ingredient and product brand applied for must not use the statement 'halal' or any representation or description in any other way to show that it can be used by Muslims.
