As we stepped into the bustling halls of MIHAS, the Malaysian International Halal Showcase, we had no idea that we would stumble upon a remarkable exhibition that would change our perspective on local entrepreneurship. The event was a grand celebration of halal products, drawing in visitors and entrepreneurs from around the world.
As we meandered through the various pavilions, our curiosity was piqued by a line of booths that seemed to radiate a different energy. These booths were grouped together under the intriguing banner of “Pavilion Gate to Global.” It was a promise of something extraordinary, something that hinted at local products reaching far beyond their home shores.
The booths were adorned with an array of products, from delectable food items to exquisite handicrafts, all proudly showcasing their Malaysian heritage. Each entrepreneur behind these booths had a story to tell, a journey of determination and ambition.
We struck up a conversation with one of the exhibitors, a passionate entrepreneur who had ventured into the international market with her unique range of solutions for smart eating, healthy cooking, and an active lifestyle. She shared her experiences of how she grew her business until she could reach the international market.
During our visit, we learned that 30 entrepreneurs from Gate To Global (GTG) MARA had participated. GTG is a program by MARA aimed at boosting the skills of entrepreneurs in areas like product development, branding, and strategic marketing. This initiative’s purpose is to ensure that products by SME entrepreneurs meet the export criteria and entry requirements of target countries.
The dedication and commitment of these entrepreneurs shone through as they described the rigorous processes, we all went through to ensure our products could proudly bear the “Made in Malaysia” tag on the global stage.
Walking through the Pavilion Gate to Global was like embarking on a journey around the world through the lens of Malaysian craftsmanship and innovation. It was inspiring to see how we, as a collective of entrepreneurs, had turned our dreams into reality and were making Malaysia proud on the global scale.
As we left the exhibition, we couldn’t help but feel a renewed sense of pride in Malaysia’s entrepreneurial spirit and the invaluable support provided by programs like GTG MARA. It was a reminder that local products could indeed become global success stories, and MIHAS had given us a front-row seat to witness this inspiring transformation.
