Step 1: Know Your Source
Not all countries or slaughterhouses are allowed to export meat to Malaysia. You must ensure that the meat you’re importing comes from a Department of Veterinary Services (DVS) Malaysia-approved abattoir. Without this approval, bye-bye import permit!
Step 2: Apply for Import Permit
Before the shipment even leaves its country of origin, you must apply for an import permit from DVS. This step requires submitting various documents, including:
✅ Halal certification from a JAKIM-recognized body
✅ Health certificate from the exporting country
✅ Supplier’s details and slaughterhouse accreditation
Lambat dapat permit? Biasanya ini terjadi kalau dokumen tak lengkap atau salah format.
Step 3: Custom & Border Inspections
When the shipment arrives in Malaysia, Jabatan Kastam Diraja Malaysia (JKDM) will verify the import permit. Then, DVS and other authorities (e.g., MAQIS, JAKIM) akan buat pemeriksaan untuk pastikan daging yang masuk benar-benar mematuhi standard keselamatan makanan dan halal.

❌ Dokumen tak padan dengan shipment – jumlah tak sama, sumber berubah, dll.
❌ Cold chain issues – kalau suhu penyimpanan tak betul, shipment boleh kena tahan atau reject.
❌ Halal certification tak lengkap – Malaysia sangat ketat bab halal, so make sure semua dokumen lengkap dan dari badan diiktiraf JAKIM.
Step 4: Release & Distribution
Once everything is cleared, you can now distribute the meat to suppliers, restaurants, or supermarkets. Tetapi, jangan lupa pastikan label, packaging, dan dokumentasi lengkap sebelum ia masuk ke pasaran!
